Why choose a cashmere scarf
Cashmere is the fine undercoat of the cashmere goat. It gives a great deal of warmth for very little weight and feels soft against the skin, which is why it suits the neck and face better than coarser wool. Well-made cashmere, cared for properly, lasts for many years.
How to choose one
Read the composition label, look for a dense and even weave, and feel for softness without slickness. Neutral shades such as ivory, stone and golden peach go with almost everything. Our guide to how to identify real cashmere gives a full checklist.
Care
Air it between wears, fold it rather than hang it, and dry clean when needed following the care label. Store it clean in a breathable bag with cedar or lavender.
