Cashmere — Origin, Character & Care
Exceptionally soft and light, cashmere is combed — not shorn — from the undercoat of mountain goats, then hand-spun into featherweight warmth.
Selected from trusted herding communities and combed during the natural moulting season, honouring a slower, gentler process.
Dry clean only. Store folded away from direct sunlight and rough surfaces. Gently steam to restore drape.

- FIBRE
- The fine undercoat of the cashmere goat, grown each winter for insulation and combed in spring. Each animal yields only a small amount of usable fibre a year, which is why cashmere is rare.
- FINENESS (MICRON)
- Fibre diameter is measured in microns, thousandths of a millimetre. Finer fibre feels softer against the skin. Commonly cited definitions treat cashmere as about 19 microns or finer, and the finest is finer still.
- FIBRE LENGTH
- Length decides durability. Longer fibres spin into smoother, stronger yarn that resists pilling; short fibres leave more loose ends at the surface.
- YARN AND WEAVE
- Ply, twist and the density of the weave or knit all affect drape, warmth and how well a piece keeps its shape.
- WARMTH
- Cashmere gives a great deal of warmth for very little weight, which is why it suits wraps, shawls and travel pieces.

How to care for it
